Avoid direct sunlight

Flood lights should be placed in areas that receive little sunlight during the day. If you place them where they get too much sun, they will overheat and burn out quickly. Sunlight also fades the plastic covering on the bulbs, which reduces their effectiveness over time.

Check for moisture or dust buildup

If there is too much moisture or dust buildup on your flood light lenses, this can cause overheating and shorten the lifespan of the bulbs inside them. This buildup can also reduce the amount of light emitted from each bulb by up to 50 percent! To prevent this from happening, ensure that all vents are open at all times and use compressed air to blow off any excess dust or water from inside your flood lights every few months.
